Tech Tutors offer personalized consultations and technology assistance designed to support all Penn State students, faculty, and staff to accomplish their teaching and learning goals. Tech Tutors can also help to prepare for live online classes, conferences, and other events.

Online via Zoom

Get help from an Online Tutor, anywhere! Our Tutors are available via Zoom from Sunday through Friday, 8:00am to 8:00pm.

What you need

  • Your device must support audio and video (optional) calling.
  • Make sure Zoom is installed on your computer.
  • Open Zoom and then sign in using your Penn State Account.

If you receive a waiting room message, please be patient as the tutor is helping another client. You may send a Zoom chat with additional details and a tutor will be with you as soon as possible.

All business hours are for the Eastern time zone. World Campus students from different times zones are advised to email techtutor@psu.edu to receive support asynchronously via the ServiceNow ticketing system, and tickets will be responded to during regular business hour times.

  • proactively troubleshooting audio/video issues
  • preparing for the creation and management of breakout rooms

  • reviewing settings for webinars and other one-time events, etc.

The Tech Tutors is a group of talented students that are determined to help you find your technology solution. We are part of IT Learning and Development (ITLD) at Penn State, which provides technology tool training to all Penn State Campuses.

IT Learning and Development (ITLD)

Providing technology tool training to the Penn State community. We bridge the gap between innovation and application, setting faculty, staff, and students up for technological success. From instructor-led sessions to a robust library of on-demand videos and documentation, ITLD offers solutions for all your training needs.

IT Service Desk

A central hub where you can view a catalog of Penn State IT services, request services, report issues, and get help.

Penn State Learning

A multi-disciplinary academic assistance program that is staffed by peer tutors who are themselves undergraduates, by scholars in residence who are content experts in their respective fields, and by professional and administrative staff members. Supports individual and group tutoring, learning community development, and collaborative projects with academic departments to assess learning and improve academic assistance resources for undergraduates.
